Now that summertime is in full swing, the need for blood donations is higher than ever. Between family vacations, Fourth of July and the upcoming Labor Day weekend, we see an increase in demand for blood donations. We at Rebel Hill Florist also believe it’s important for small and local businesses to give back to the community. When we heard that only 3 in 100 people give blood, we decided it was time to do something! After all, we are the Volunteer State- let’s step up and help our fellow Tennesseans.
Rebel Hill Florist is hosting our 10th Annual Blood Drive on Thursday, July 25th from 11am-6pm. As an incentive and a “Thank You,” you’ll receive a dozen roses from Rebel Hill Florist when you donate blood at our drive this week. We’re planning to give away over 1700 roses FREE to those who participate!
Once you receive your roses, we have a few ideas about how you can display them beautifully.
- A Large, Clear Vase: Before placing stems in the vase, be sure that the vase and water are clean. Use clean utensils to trim stems on a diagonal. Strip any excess foliage off the parts of the stems that will be underwater (to keep water clean). Place water in vase and mix with flower food before adding roses.
- Mason Jars and Coffee Mugs: For a smaller container like a mug or mason jar, separate your dozen roses into two groups of six. Trim stems short, strip leaves, then gather the stems with a rubber band. Place in clean water with flower food for a petite design. With two groups, you can share one with a friend!
- A Wine Bottle: For a visually enticing display, follow the same steps as above, but only place one or two stems in each wine bottle or tall, slender vase. Use bottles of varying sizes and colors for an eclectic tabletop or windowsill display.
We are looking forward to seeing you at Rebel Hill Florist’s 10th Annual Blood Drive! Schedule your donation time here and enjoy the roses you’ll earn from helping others.
