Trousdale Drive business aquires Elegant Creations
By Karen Jordan Staff Writer
Rebel Hill Florist on Trousdale Drive has expanded with its recent purchase of Brentwood-based Elegant Creations.
That store, which was in business for nearly 20 years, was known for its floral arrangements for weddings and funerals.
JoAnn Armstrong, who took over the business after her husband died three years ago, said her heart just was not in it.
"It was his pride and joy, not something I really enjoyed. I loved the creative side. I don't like paperwork or the headaches."
It seems to be a good idea for both sides.
Rebel Hill FLorist is pleased about the possibilities, florist owner Anna Page said.
"For our business, it's an opportunity to grow and expand our visibility," said Page, who has owned the florist for more than 15 years. "It just seemed like a natural merger."
Page said Rebel Hill's customer service and "superior takent and design" should help win over its new clients.
Armstrong said it also helps that both florists share similiar styles, so she is confident her customers will be comfortable with the arrangement.
Despite this, Armstrong is not totally out of the floral business. She works part-time at Rebel Hill Florist, filling in when needed. She said she likes it that way.
"I feel delighted. I can go home and not have to be worried about it."
Rebel Hill Florist, at 4821 Trousdale Drive, was named one of the 500 florists of 2004 by Teleflora International.
